HAZOP study

CEDR has experience in the preparation, organization, and lead of a HAZOP study, which is one of the most international used process hazard analysis (PHA) methods today.

Challenges of Process Hazard Analysis incidents can result in time loss due to injuries, capital and production losses, environmental damage, and loss of company reputation as well as possible litigation. Companies need to be making every effort to meet all regulations and reduce process risks by performing Process Hazard Analyses.

CEDR can manage the HAZOP-meetings with our trained HAZOP Leads who are responsible for the overall quality of the review, partnered with a dedicated CEDR Scribe to minute the meetings.

The HAZOP is a structured and systematic examination of a complex planned or existing process or operation in order to identify and evaluate problems that may represent risks to personnel and/ or equipment.

The technique is based on breaking the overall complex design of the process into a number of simpler sections called 'nodes' which are then individually reviewed. The nodes are commonly indicated on P&ID's. Structure and direction are given to the review process by applying standardised guidewords prompts to the review of each node.

The intention of performing a HAZOP is to review the design to pick up design and engineering issues that may otherwise not have been found. This technique is commonly accepted by regulators.

CEDR uses PHA-pro for its HAZOP study. PHA-Pro offers a user-friendly, flexible, and knowledge-based solution that has evolved through extensive commercial use over the last decade to meet the requirements of many companies.

It is a proven software solution, with preformatted standard templates and features that are user-friendly and intuitive.
